The 1978 Datsun 280z had the LR160-42 model. The 1979 -1980 Datsun 280ZX used the LR160-42B model. These alternators use an Internal Voltage Regulator. The output of alternator at 2500rpm ( 1200 rpm of engine) is 50A at 14V. The output at 5000rpm is 60A 14V.
