My Honda wiper motor motor kit is Direct Plug and Play for the Datsun 240z. The plug on your harness can be modified for the Datsun 260z and 280z. You can expect about a 60% increase in performance from the stock motor. You will need to modify your bracket. My Kit includes a simple template to help you modify your bracket. It features a new motor already wired with a waterproof relay, it is direct plug in play for the Datsun 240z. I have done extensive research, see link below, on all wiper motors and include a rectangular plug to convert the round plug on the 260z and 280z. Unfortunately, you will lose your intermittent function. This function incorporates relays on the OE motor and under the dash. You will have High and Low speeds and it will park properly.

Rewiring the Honda Wiper Motor for the Datsun 240z
I have probably made over 50 of these upgrades. My last production I wired up about 15 of these motors. Below is my procedure with the wiring diagram. I make this available for those “Do it Yourselfers” like me. However, I would prefer you purchase my upgrade kit. I make a quality product, its tested, comes with a custom rubber cover, template to modify your bracket, and the mating rectangular connector to modify your wiring harness connector. I have done extensive research on the Datsun 240z 260z 280z wiper motor wiring circuits, and this knowledge is available below.
Problem: The aftermarket motor has poor external wiring. The wires on the top are often exposed and have poor insulation. I had a customer damage the motor during installation, damaging the wires hitting it against the body. Installing the bracket with motor attached can be awkward, its a tight fit!
Solution: I hot glue the wires and coat them with 2 coats of liquid electrical tape to secure and protect the wires.
I wire the motor with a high quality Bosch type waterproof relay. This relay is needed for Honda wiper motor to function properly when it is incorporated with the stock wiper controls on combination switch. It allows the motor to have high and low speeds and park properly!
When I wire the motor, waterproof relay, and rectangular connector together, I use high quality automotive GXL wire and bullet connectors with heat shrink material so the wire connections are waterproof. It costs a little extra time and $$, but its worth it. After the wiring is complete I wrap the wires with loom tape, like the factory, twice and nice and tight. It’s a quality job and worth the extra money, I spend about 2 hours on each motor, so save yourself the time and worry and buy my upgrade.
Modifying the stock wiper motor bracket easily with the provided template.
No need to worry about modifying your bracket! The kit comes with a template to easily modify your bracket. Simply align the big hole, make sure template is positioned up and the bracket is the correct orientation, then use a marker to transfer the pattern. Next, use a center punch to mark the center of each hole. You need to drill the holes precisely, this will keep the drill bit from sliding. Use a grinder or saw to notch the bracket so the motor body does not contact the mounting plate and interfere with the motor bolting properly to bracket. Then debur everything so everything is smooth. I paint the bracket with several coats of paint on both sides. I prefer gloss black Rustoleum Industrial Enamel paint. Allow 48 hours for paint to dry and then mount motor.
The wiper motor is controlled by connecting the ground paths through the combination switch. Occasionally, my customers will contact me about the motor not working. My first question, does the blue/red wire at the harness have power. If no, check your fuse at the fuse panel for the wiper motor circuit. If yes, check each other wire at harness for continuity to ground. The black wire should always have continuity, the blue wire (low) and blue/yellow (high) wires should have continuity with ground when switch is on low or high, respectively. If there is a problem there, the combination switch may need to be rebuilt. This is an easy procedure. It involves prying up the 4 tabs and then cleaning the contacts, there is often carbon build up on them.

Please note, however!!! The factory continuity diagrams in the Factory Service Manual and subsequently the Haynes and Chilton manuals are incorrect. I will post my continuity diagram for the wiper motor circuit, based on my continuity tests on the actual wiper motor circuit connection pins on the Combination switch.
Below is the wiring diagram and motor stats for wiring up the Honda wiper motor. Don’t waste your time pulling used motors from salvage yards, I did for my first production to save a little money and offer people used OE Honda motors. I figured they would be better quality, the gear housing is cast. However there are inconsistencies in the motors as far as parking goes. They look identical, but the park function is different. You can not modify them to park properly! I apologize to my customers that got a bad motor…they got a free new Honda wiper motor upgrade for there trouble. Sorry guys!
If you decide to wire your own motor, please check the motor before you modify the plug. I have had bad ones from the factory. When I build my motors I test them before, during and after wrapping to ensure they function properly. The motors are fully tested before they ship out.

Thank you for your business! Please read this first to ensure proper installation of your new wiper motor.
Make sure the colors on the wires match, clean your old wires. Please look at wiring diagrams to confirm your engine bay wire harness connector wire colors.
Included is the mating connector for your harness if you want to replace the terminal on your engine bay harness.
Before you install the motor to the bracket, you will need to drill 3 new holes and notch your mounting bracket for the motor to bolt to the bracket. Enclosed is a template. The bottom of template should contact the mounting bracket. This is important so you don’t drill the holes backwards ( mirror image). I would paint bracket. After bracket has dried, wrap motor with rubber cover and install motor on bracket.
The linkage that attaches to the wiper motor, the tale end should point to passenger side, with main pivot point towards the driverside.
AFTER YOU HAVE INSTALLED MOTOR, DO NOT INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPERS UNTIL YOU HAVE TURNED THE WIPER MOTOR ON SEVERAL TIMES FOR EACH SPEED AND THEN OFF. THE MOTOR SHOULD STOP AT THE SAME POINT, THE WIPERS WILL BE AT THE LOWEST POINT ON THE WINDSHIELD AT REST/ INSTALL THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AT THE LOW POINT ON THE WINDSHIELD.
TO BE SAFE AND NOT DAMAGE THE PAINT, LIFT WIPERS OFF WINDSHIELD, LIKE YOU ARE CHANGING WIPER BLADES, USING PIVOT AT THE BASE OF THE WIPERS. TURN WIPERS ON AND CHECK FOR PROPER WIPER DIRECTION. THEY SHOULD ROTATE UP, IF THEY ROTATE DOWN YOU HAVE INSTALLED THEM INCORRECTLY

Troubleshooting the Combination Switch Wiper Side and Harness Plug
The Datsun 240z had a different combination switch for each year. The switch changes the continuity to ground for the circuit. Troubleshoot the wire harness plug first, then the combination switch. The blue/red wire is power from the fuse box. The contacts in the switch may be have carbon build up and need a good cleaning.
